The Pacific Wide Group is a privately owned family company.
Established in 1988, originally we were formed to meet the needs of export customers of Country Traders, a large, broad based commodity trader which ceased business in 1988. Today we are a major New Zealand player in the horticultural industry. We have made considerable investment in our facilities and have involvement in manufacturing, processing, exporting and importing. Through our history we have worked hard at being innovative and pioneering. Our processing machinery has been imitated by others in the industry, (surely a complement to our professional approach!) our standards are accepted across the industry and other companies have followed our opening up of new market opportunities.
We have our base in the garden city of Christchurch, New Zealand about 5 minutes drive from the international airport and 10 minutes from the city centre. Our office, set in tastefully landscaped surroundings, fulfils the administration and marketing for the Group as well as housing a warehouse. Within the Group there is a Sphagnum moss harvesting and processing operation based in Hokitika (Coastpak Holdings Limited) on the rugged West Coast and a bark processing plant located in New Zealand’s art deco capital, Napier (Pacific Bark Limited). Included in the wider Group, is a Sphagnum moss harvester and processor in Chile (Costa Verde Trading SA Ltd), a Coir processor located in Sri Lanka (Tropicoir Lanka Pty Ltd) and a trading company in Sri Lanka (Tropical Pty Ltd). While initially focussed on export markets, in 2002 a New Zealand distribution company (Gro Pacific NZ Limited) was established.
Our product offering is based on a concern for the environment; as a result all products are environmentally friendly and sourced from renewable resources. While our initial focus was on export sales of Sphagnum moss, we were also a leader in the establishment of export markets for granulated bark. In addition, we supply Coir products sourced from our own facilities in Sri Lanka. Completing the growing media offered by the Company is Chilean Sphagnum moss, which provides a competitive alternative to the higher grade New Zealand moss. Other products we offer are Hawaiian Floral Mist, an organic floral food spray that prolongs the life of cut flowers, and specialised growing media mixes tailored for individual customer requirements. Each of our products is designed to meet the requirements of growers looking for superior returns and healthy plant growth from their growing media.

As a Group we are committed to increasing our technical knowledge through our own investment in research and development and key partnerships we have established with leading growers and others involved in the growing media industry. As a result we are able to offer professional friendly advice and support as well as high quality Besgrow products.
While current customers are spread throughout Asia/Pacific and Australasia, our desire is to develop strong relationships with customers in other parts of the world.
